Scrubby Knobbly Crochet Dishcloth

Who likes washing dishes?

Yay or nay.

Since my dishwasher expired I have to wash dishes the old fashion way, by hand.  To my advantage, I can crochet my very own Scrubby Knobbly Crochet Dishcloth.  Yes, it’s a mouthful to say.

The Scubby Knobbly dishcloth is very easy and quick to make.  This is considered to be an easy pattern using single crochets and the bobble stitch.  The bobbles are a plus, they are great for scrubbing stubborn stains or the beloved pots and pans.

Materials:

1 Skein Lily Sugar n’ Cream Cotton Yarn

H (5.0) Hook

Scissors

Tapestry Needle

Notes:

  • Ch2 counts as a double crochet throughout the pattern
  • Gauge does not matter, it’s a dishcloth
  • Your bobble will pop out facing outwards

Stitches

ch –  chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

BS – bobble stitch = dc4tog (5 loops on hook)

st – stitch

Finished Size:  Approximately 8 X 8

Pattern:

Row 1:  Ch32, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. (31)

Row 2:  Ch1, sc in same st and in each sc across, turn.

One Skein Skinny Scarf

One Skein Skinny Scarf
This will be a quick post on how to make a One Skein Skinny Scarf.  I had one skein of RedHeart Boutique Unforgettable yarn that I wanted to get rid off.  This is not my favorite yarn to use because it rips quickly and it’s not very forgiving when you have to rip apart.  My main complaint is finding knots in the skein but other than that it’s a very soft yarn to use and I love the gradual color changes.

I made this scarf in about two hours and used every bit of this yarn.

Twisted Textured Pillow

The Twisted Textured Pillow was inspired from the Statue of Liberty Pillow by RedHeart.  I thought it would be fun to design and make my own.  I love bright colors and I thought the orange and green would be nice for the summer.  Scroll on down for the pattern.

Twisted Textured Pillow

Supplies:  Big Twist Value Yarn –  6 0z/170gm

Colors:  Pumpkin and Lime

Crochet Hook: H(5mm)

16 X 16 Pillow Form

Tapestry Needle

Scissors

Abbreviations:

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

fpdc – front post double crochet

Notes:

Ch 3 counts as stitch.

Make sure your foundation chain is wide enough for your pillow by adding  or subtracting stitches.

Before you find your rhythm crochet a couple of rows and measure it against your pillow form just in case you need to make some adjustments.  Be sure to allow for the fluff (height) of your pillow.  In this example the square measured 16” and I was lucky that it stretched a bit.

Stitch count given once unless it changes.

Gauge:  4 X 4 = 15dc X 8 rows

I wouldn’t worry about the gauge so much

Instructions:

Multiples of 2 + 3

Make 2  (Should measure approximately 16 ½ X 16 ½)

Row 1:  (RS)  Ch 57, skip 3 chs (counts as st), dc in next st, dc in each ch to end, turn. (55)

Row 2:  (WS) Ch1, sc in same st, sc in next st to end, turn.

Row 3:  Ch3, *fpdc around dc one row below, dc in next st; repeat from * to end, turn.

Row 4:  Ch1, sc in same st, sc in next st to end, turn.

Row 5:  Ch3, *dc in next st, fpdc around dc one row below; repeat from * to last 2 sts, dc in last 2 sts, turn.

Row 6-53:  Repeat rows 2-5 12 times and end at row 5.

Finish off and weave ends.

With right sides together seam/whipstitch 3 sides.

*I single crocheted mine around*

Flip outside in and insert pillow form and seam/whipstitch last side.

Fluff and you are ready to show off your new Twisted Textured Pillow.

Hope you enjoyed this quick and easy pattern.  Please share on social media.

Crochet Coffee Cup Coasters

How many times has someone placed a glass on your table and it left a ring or liquid ruining your tabletop?  Happens all the time in my house and I’m guilty of it also.  Hot weather equals more drinking.  To solve that problem why don’t you crochet a few coasters and leave them laying around.  Maybe if it is seen it will be used and you won’t have to yell

cos00044_1

Since I love drinking coffee I thought it would be cute to make coffee cup coasters.  Again, Pinterest is your friend.  Divine Debris designed Cocoa Mug Coaster which can be found on Ravelry and on her blog.  The directions were easy to understand.  It was very simple to make with little cotton yarn used.  You should be able to make a set of four with a skein of cotton yarn.

Knotty Knot Boot Cuffs V2

It’s another  boot cuffs pattern again yall!  Since the first pair of Knotty Knot Boot Cuffs were in the making I already had it in my mind to combine the colors.  It’s hard to decide which style I like best so I say I love them both.  Same concept as the first one and I think I changed a row.  Boot cuffs are becoming one of my favorite things to make.  I love the instant gratification of completing a project and they are great stash busters.

Something Quick

Here’s something quick and fast to make for that last minute gift.  It’s a cowl using 3 strands of yarn.  Grab 3 skeins of your favorite worsted weight yarn and a Q hook.  I chose I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby.  This yarn is soft and squishy compared to Red Heart Super Saver.

  • I Love This Yarn (3 skeins)
  • Q Hook
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Scissors

Row 1:  Ch 18 (loosely), dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next ch, dc in each st from hook, turn.

Row 2:  Ch2, dc in each dc from previous row to end, turn.

Row 2-14:  Repeat Row 2 or until desired length

Finish off and with wrong sides together whipstitch short sides and weave ends.

It’s that easy.

3 Strand Cowl

Three Strand Cowl

I made this with Loops and Thread Urban in Red.  I scored this yarn at Michael’s in the clearance section last summer for a $1.  Oh boy, I love a bargain.

Sorry for the picture quality, it’s been raining here for days.  I hope the sun will come out soon.

Rainbow Twist Infinity Cowl

This is an easy infinity scarf to make, it should take between 2-3 hours to crochet.  Variegated yarn makes this scarf burst with color.  The stitches used are basic and you must know how to foundation double crochet, front and back post double crochet.   Remember the internet is your friend, there are many tutorials and videos on these stitches.  This scarf can be worn around the neck, doubled around the neck and as a hooded scarf.  The choice is up to you.  I’m stuck on the Big Twist Rainbow Classic yarn for the moment and this may be my go to cowl yarn.  Make sure you check my post on Joann’s Big Twist yarn.

Big Twist

If you have noticed Joann’s yarn section has been looking pretty slim to none during the last 4 weeks.  I was able to pick up many skeins on clearance and yarn that I normally wouldn’t purchase.  Something new must be coming.  Every Saturday I would go back to watch the disappearance of the yarn.

Beyond the shelves were full again and behold a new brand of yarn by Joann’s called Big Twist Collection Value Worsted Yarn.  The regular price $3.19 for 6 ounces, but I was able to get it with a coupon, of course.  In my opinion, the colors were alright, nothing new and exciting.  There were some colors that caught my attention.  I would compare this yarn to the Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn at Michaels.  It was a tad bit softer than Redheart Super Saver Economy.  Big Twist looks like it will hold up during washings and will make a great sturdy blanket.

This is the color palette I chose, black, cream and scarlet.
